Awhile ago I decided to make a mold to cast a manifold for my case-inducted ZA50 motor. Someday when I rebuild the furnace, I'll cast the manifold and the cylinder. ..someday. Anyways, I took a bunch of pictures while working on the buck. The 'buck' is the foam & wax positive that represents the shape I'm trying to make. I'm kinda different in that I use both wax and styrofoam in making the buck, it complicates the removal process but allows for better precision in what I'm attempting to make. Anyways, here it is, from drawings to investment:
Ok.. so that's really not everything. The mold isn't finished. The buck still has to be expunged, and of course pouring the aluminum. So, to be continued...
P.S. Liz = Rad.

Very interesting, and if I'm not mistaken, you pilfered those straws from McDonalds.
So how do you keep the Aluminum out of the inside of the intake?
Dan
when the manifold is invested into the plaster, the plaster fills the inside, preventing the aluminum from collasping
