Mass Production / Massive Potential

So my recent dickering around with the blue goo has produced flexible master molds I can use to make copies of the shapes modeled. The Peugeot / Tomos / Polini reed side draft intake mold isn't quite perfect yet, but I decided to have a go anyway using candlewax -which is part of the problem. The potpourri fragrances, however, are an aromatherapy solution. Sooner or later, I'll man up to some microcyrstalline wax for some super serious molding. I'll also switch up to a Urethane-based master mold, which is tougher for repeat usage, and has better rigidity qualities for accuracy.

I also copied Naz's MHR scooter cylinder, though reproducing this will be slightly more involved. The master here, is of just the internal port structure and port layout. It would need to be adjusted for the specific stroke and crown heights to go into another motor, I would also have to construct a mold of the exterior... so yes, we're still aways off yet. But! We are getting closer to a nightmarish post-apocalyptic world where 20hp Jawa 207's and Batavus HS-50's rule the streets with an iron fist and the Gilardoni Peugeots, Hobbits, Derbis rock back and forth in the corner crying. Keep the dream alive, buddy! Don't stop believin'.

So cool you got the intakes going. They look like a crazy army all lined up. What kit was it meant to be used with? The Tomos kits on a Puch bottom end?

The side draft works on all Tomos, Puch Polini and Peugeot cylinders with this bolt pattern. It kicks the carb out the side for no clearance problems and bolts up nicely. It's based off a Dialem intake, which cylinder also used this common bolt pattern. I believe it's 15.5mm, and a SHA or a PHBG with the correct shim will fit nicely clamp style.

Oh, and my wife thinks they look like penises, but don't read too much into that.

What about casting a simonini side intake case half? I've got one...What would it take?

this looks alarmingly like my workshop right now, i wish we could combine forces, and i could get my fucking waste oil burner to stay lit on my g-d furnace.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. There's been a set back on the intakes, as the plaster investment did not work so good. I popped out a few more wax copies and we'll get back on track. Graham, theres a lot of busy beavers in the Emerald City carving out mini-industries right now. It's pretty slick.

Jason- do you need like one copy of a simonini case or a bunch?

I don't really "need" any more copies as I have two and feel totally lucky to have that. What I'm thinking of is just being able to reboot a discontinued item. Would it be worth the cost/time? There are a TON of vespa owners out there who'd love to get their hands on one...Just thoughts.

Getting the port structure with oomoo like that is awesome.

I'm working on a similar side draft intake to work with the malossi four petal.

Oh wait, you're using some other fancy chemicals. If you haven't used it before check out Smooth-On brand's OOMOO 25. The demold time is only 75 minutes.

Those side intakes are awesome. If you could make a ton of those you could sell them easy.
